Daniel Armour Obituary


Daniel A. Armour VIRGINIA BEACH - Daniel Alan Armour, 67, passed away Aug. 30, 2008. Daniel graduated from Princess Anne High School in 1960. He attended The College of William and Mary on a football scholarship and was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the Army ROTC. After serving in the Army, he worked for Legg Mason and then opened his own office supply business in Virginia Beach. His father, retired Cmdr. Robert H. Armour, preceded him in death. Survivors include his mother, Arlene C. Armour; sister, Marlene A. Mathers and her husband David of Midlothian, Va.; brother, Michael and his wife Margaret of Mooresville, N.C.; daughter, Meredith A. Lipscomb and her husband Robert of Tucson, Ariz.; granddaughter, Eleanor Temple Lipscomb; and several nephews and nieces. The family wishes to thank the staffs of River Pointe Rehabilitation, Heartland Hospice, and Jewish Family Services for the care that they provided, and a special thanks to the brothers of Kappa Alpha Fraternity who visited, called and supported Daniel during his illness. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milner Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater is handling arrangements, www.candfservices.com. An endowment has been established for Daniel at his alma mater and donations may be sent to William and Mary Athletic Education Foundation, Box 399, Williamsburg, VA 23187.
