Elsie Shotton Obituary
Elsie W. Shotton SUFFOLK - Elsie W. Shotton, 100, passed away Aug. 31, 2008. She was born in Bertie County, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Christian Elnora Jernigan Ward and Sylvester Jordan Ward. Elsie attended East Carolina University and later went on to receive training from Lakeview Hospital to become a registered nurse. She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard John Shotton and daughter, Patricia Anne Windley. Elsie is survived by her sisters, Magnolia Hicks of Suffolk, Gwendolyn Phelps of Plymouth, N.C.; son-in-law, Dr. William Windley Jr. of Lumberton, N.C.; grandchildren, Dr. William Windley III of Cary, N.C., and Dr. Elizabeth Thomas of Charleston, S.C. The family would like to acknowledge Janice Thomas for her close friendship and support over the years. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk. A graveside service will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel at 11 a.m. officiated by the Rev. D.V. Madison.
