Ella Tripp Obituary


Ella Sue H. Tripp SUFFOLK - Ella Sue Howell Tripp, 94, of Alpharetta, Ga., died Sept. 2, 2008, at the Northeast Health and Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta. Mrs. Tripp was born Aug. 22, 1914, in Nansemond County to the late William Thomas and Erma Dean Howell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyman Jackson Tripp Sr., and brother William Thomas Howell Jr. Mrs. Tripp graduated from Whaleyville High School and received a teaching certificate from Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, Va. She taught in Nansemond County for many years. Mrs. Tripp was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities. Survivors include her son, Lyman Jackson Tripp Jr. and daughter-in-law Deanna Tripp of Rockledge, Fla.; daughter, Joyce Tripp Miller and son-in-law Clark Miller of Alpharetta, Ga.; son, Alan Howell Tripp of Boise, Idaho; sister, Elmer Dean Brinkley of Portsmouth; sister-in-law, Marion Tripp of Franklin; grandchildren, Tara and Ross Tripp, Brent, Bryan, Christian and Elizabeth Miller; great-grandchild, Grady Miller; several nieces and cousins. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Dr. Donald Jones and the Rev. Jonathan Judy. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Fork Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 180 Great Fork Road, Suffolk, VA 23438.
