Jane Stuart Barr MacConochie

Jane B. MacConochie NORFOLK - Jane Stuart Barr MacConochie, 80, of the 700 block of Rhode Island Ave., died peacefully at her home Sept. 5, 2008. She was a native of Boston and was the daughter of the late James and Anna Williams Barr. Mrs. MacConochie was the owner of Jane Stuart Needlework Shop from 1967 to 1977, and was a former radio announcer with WRVC-FM. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension and a former member of its altar guild. She was an avid reader, created lovely handwork and taught needlepoint and knitting. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Arthur A. MacConochie of Norfolk; two daughters, J. Stuart MacConochie Murphy and her husband Rex of Gordonsville, Va., and Margaret MacConochie Bright and her husband Gary of Norfolk; son, Frank MacConochie and his wife Anne of Norfolk; brother, Robert Barr of Sterling, Va.; and five grandchildren, Jane, Anna, Albert, Alex and Charles. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Episcopal Church of the Ascension by the Rev. David Davenport. Interment will be in Grace Episcopal Church, Cismont, Va., at a later date.
