Mary Plummer

Mary C.H. Plummer NORFOLK - Mary C.H. Plummer, of the 100 block of Suburban Parkway, formerly of Galt St., passed away Sept. 3, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Joshua T. Haskett Sr. and Mary Goode Haskett. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard F. Plummer Sr. Mrs. Plummer was a faithful member of Greater Metropolitan AME Zion Church and served in numerous ministries over the years. She worked as a nurse at Norfolk Community Hospital and Camp Young. She was a Past Worthy Matron of O.E.S Adah Chapter 20, PHA, a Daughter of Isis with Arabia Court No. 23, member of United Order of Tents of Norfolk and founding member of the United Council of Negro Women. Mrs. Plummer is survived by five daughters, Audrey P. Moorer (William) of Florida, Frances P. Whitten of Virginia, Carolyn P. Hooker of Texas, Bernida D. Plummer of Virginia and Darlene P. Wilson of North Carolina; a son, Bernard F. Plummer Jr. of California; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Greater Metropolitan AME Zion Church, 822 E. Brambleton Ave. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home for the service. A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby St. Chapel.
