Elizabeth Blow Obituary


Elizabeth A. Blow SUFFOLK - Elizabeth Alexander Blow, 85, of the 1500 block of Great Fork Road, died Sept. 10, 2008, in her home. Mrs. Blow was born in Portsmouth, and was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Bolinger Alexander. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, she was a retired 30-year employee of the Bank of Virginia, a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Franklin, a member and Past Worthy Matron of Esther Chapter No. 37, Order of the Eastern Star and also a member of Zulekia Court No. 35, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America. An avid reader of mysteries, she also held a special love for all animals especially dogs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nebbie H. Blow and her brother, Andrew Alexander. Surviving are her best friends and caregivers, Phyllis and Randy Byrum of Suffolk; her sister-in-law, Gertrude Bousman of Palmyra, Va.; her "adopted" grandchildren, Lucas and Bethany Savage and June and John Thomas Byrum; and her beloved canine companion, Princess, who she lovingly called "Mutt Mutt." The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the mausoleum chapel of Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Ed Pickup. Burial will follow in the Masonic section of the cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, N.C., is assisting with arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Ruby Russell and Jackie Bittle for their help and loving care with Elizabeth's journey home.
