Dorothy Gardner Obituary


Dorothy Davis Gardner NORFOLK - Dorothy Davis Gardner, 82, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, in Sentara Leigh Hospital, in Norfolk. She was the fifth of six daughters born to the late Samuel D. and Elouise Hughes Davis of Norfolk. She attended Booker T. Washington High School and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was married to Earl Gardner for 61 years. She is survived by her nine sons and daughters, all in the Hampton Roads area: Randall Dwight and wife Aldena, Gregory Wayne, Gerald Brent and wife Ann, Sandra Cecile (Kelly), Dwayne Errol, Kathy Jan and husband Leon Williams, Beatrice Deravalon (Hinton), Dorothy Elouise and husband Marvin Franks, and Barry Glen; 20 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Davis Glover, and a cousin who is like a sister, Estella Joyner; one aunt, Alice Hughes; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral will take place Wednesday at noon in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 934 W. Little Creek Road, Norfolk, the Rev. William Davis officiating. The body will be placed in the church for viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Professional services will be provided by E.A. Hughes Funeral Home. You may sign the online guestbook at www.eahughes.biz.
