Nellie Conney Obituary
Nellie R. Conney NORFOLK - Nellie R. Conney, 64, passed away Sept. 15, 2008, in her home. Mrs. Conney was a longtime resident of Ocean View. Mrs. Conney is survived by one son, Thomas Conney; two daughters, Donna Farmer and Kim DeFoe; and two brothers, Joseph Padgett and Gene Padgett; other survivors include five grandchildren, Dustin Nave, Scott Farmer, Samantha Farmer, Nicole DeFoe and Chaz Ledford; two great-grandchildren; and best friends, Sandra Howard, Betty Royer and Maurice Kemp III. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis "Pete" Conney; her mother, Bessie Mae Midgett; and two brothers, Junior Padgett and Ollie Padgett. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with the Rev. Allen Jeffers officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a church or favorite charity. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Nellie was and is my best friend. I don't know what I am going to do without sharing so much with her. We have had years of laughter and fun. There were hard times but more good than bad. Our frindship was forged in some of the hard times for her and for me and our families. I am greatful that she has such a wonderful daughter Kim and her son Tommy that I feel I have grown even more closer to. Nellie will always be loved and missed so will Pete. I know they are in a much better place. But it doesn't stop me from missing them.

Nellie was such a wonderful friend and co-worker, I am going to miss her. I moved away but I always kept in touch with her when I came to Norfolk to visit my family.
She is resting now with the ANGELS and with Mr. Pete.

She was as much a mother to me as my real mother was and influenced me probably more. She was truly one of a kind and will be missed dearly.
