Thurman Baines Obituary


Thurman Ruth Baines CHESAPEAKE - Thurman Ruth Baines, 60, formerly of Wilson County, passed away Sept. 14, 2008, at the University Medical Center, Charlottesville. Joyful memories of Mr. Baines are cherished by his loving mother, Elizabeth P. Baines; two daughters, Michelle Renee Baines of Virginia Beach and Lisa Diane (Baines) Vang of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Ariana Michelle Foster and Daysian Xavier Vang, both of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Bernice (Baines) Adjeman of Charlotte, N.C., and Sylvia Lee Baines of Westbury, N.Y.; two brothers, Jerome Baines of Bronx, N.Y., and Sylvester Clyde Baines of Worcester, Mass.; four aunts; one sister-in-law, Susan (Fournier) Baines; a host of other special relatives and friends including special friend, Glennie Whitaker of Spring Hope, N.C. A service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Mount Calvary Holy Church, 507 Hadley St., Wilson. Minister Prince Lewis will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street, Ext. A viewing of Mr. Baines will take place today from 3 to 9:30 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro St., SW with the family present later to receive friends from 8:15 to 9:15 p.m. All other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of his mother, 306 West Vance St., Wilson, where they will also assemble one hour prior to the service.

I just want to extend my condolences to the family. I grew up with Lisa and I remember Mr. Baines very well. I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers.
