Gertrude Barrington Obituary


Gertrude Barrington NORFOLK - Gertrude "T.T." Barrington, 86, of the 6300 block of Glenoak Drive, passed away Sept. 17, 2008. She was born Sept. 10, 1922, to the late John and Mamie Heckstall in Windsor, N.C. She was educated in the Edenton public school system. She was a member of Oakwood Chapel Disciples of Christ, Norfolk. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Walter Barrington Sr.; three brothers, John, Eddie and Billy Heckstall and two sisters, Annie Parker and Beulah Foster. She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters, Barbara Marshall, Dianne Reid (Billy), Judy Barrington-Eure (Luther), Audrey Barrington- Crespo (Michael), Cassandra Davis; two sons, Robert Barrington Sr. (Jocelyn) and Walter Barrington Jr. (Carolyn); one brother, Robert Heckstall; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. The Rev. Carolyn Barrington will officiate. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 6355 Glenoak Drive one hour prior to the service for the procession to the chapel. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and afterwards at 3500 Fulcrum Court. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
