Jewel Rowland Obituary


Jewel C. Rowland DUNN - Jewel C. Rowland, 82, passed away Sept. 17, 2008, with his family by his side. He was born in South Carolina to W.W. Roland and Jewel Curtis June 20, 1926. Jewel was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Madeline, and is survived by three sons, Randolph Nelson and his wife Denise, Curtis Rowland, Allen Rowland; grandchildren, Jason, Cara and Joshua Nelson, Matthew and Spencer Rowland; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Amanda and Robert Taylor. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of distinguished service. Jewel was also a member of the Masons Lodge No. 274 in Virginia Beach and Shriners of the Khedive Temple of Norfolk. Family and friends are invited to a visitation for the celebration of Jewel's life from 10 to 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, where the service will follow at 11 a.m. Dr. J. Scottie Griffin will officiate. Amanda Taylor will be speaking on behalf of the family. Military honors and Masonic rites will be conducted at the committal service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.woodlawngroup.com.
