Joyce Ficare Obituary


Joyce O. Ficare SUFFOLK - Joyce Ann Outland Ficare, 57, beloved wife, daughter and sister, found eternal rest Sept. 23, 2008, at Sentara Obici Hospital, from diabetic complications. She was born July 12, 1951, in Ahoskie, N.C., and grew up to be a very kind, generous and loving person who helped everyone she knew. Joyce was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and taught special education in the Suffolk school system for 17 years. She was a member of the Scottish Rite Ladies in Portsmouth. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 37 years, Petro B. "Pete" Ficare; father, Jasper C. Outland; sister, Jennifer G. Outland; brother and sister-in-law, John H. and Sherry Outland; brother-in-law, Ector Ficare; sister-in-law, Kulla Ficare; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Virginia H. Outland and her father and mother-in-law, Bill and Laura Ficare. A graveside service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. E. Clifton Whitlock officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of one's choice. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
