Ernest Wilson Obituary


Ernest Lee Wilson SUFFOLK – Ernest Lee Wilson, 93, of of the 5600 block of Godwin Blvd., passed away Sept. 13, 2008, in Prince William County. A native of Nansemond County, he was the son of the late Johnny and Lavenia Wilson. His beloved wife, Sevella Hall Wilson, followed him in death Sept. 15, 2008. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of World War II. He was a retired electrician from the Newport News Shipbuilding Company. Because of the civil rights movement, he was allowed to be a trainer at the Newport News Shipyard. He also helped to build the original James River Bridge. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he was chairman of the Deacon and Trustee boards. He was a charter member of Prince Hall Masonic Lodge of Hobson, a Hobson Village oysterman, and was the owner of the Chuckatuck Trotters baseball team. He was Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop No. 305. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Patricia Holland of Suffolk and Felicia Holliman of Nokesville (Prince William County); one sister, Victoria Wilson of Suffolk; one brother, James Pope (Connie) of Suffolk; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; ex-son-in-law, Arthur Holliman; one sister-in-law, Viola Burrows (Bill) of Newport News; one brother-in-law, Howard Foster Sr. of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral will be held at noon Friday at Little Bethel Baptist Church, 6533 Everetts Road, Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Bernard Thomas. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
