William Johnson Obituary


William H. Johnson COURTLAND - William Herbert "Tom" Johnson, 60, died Sept. 22, 2008. Born in Southampton County, he was predeceased by his father, Floyd Herbert Johnson. Tom was an Army veteran of Vietnam and an automotive mechanic at ATC Panels. He was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Linda Whitley Johnson; one son, Robert "R.A." Johnson and wife Pushpa of Seattle; two grandchildren, Tori Johnson and Dylan Voller; his mother, Phyllis L. Council and husband Roy of Zuni; one sister, Carolyn Faye Vassiliou and husband Petros of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Floyd Wayne Johnson and wife Teresa of Suffolk and Donald Ray Johnson and wife Faye of Zuni. A funeral will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Rob Edwards officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Ms. Kathy Worrell, 717 Fairview Drive, Franklin, VA 23851. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
