Lula Cary Obituary


Lula Mae Cary CHESAPEAKE - Lula Mae Cary, 84, formerly of 913 Partridge Ave., passed away Sept. 25, 2008, in Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. She was a native of Southampton and daughter of the late Johnnie and Marie Hines Hux and the widow of Clarence Cary. Mrs. Cary retired as a custodian for the Norfolk City School System. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Norfolk. Surviving to cherish her memory are her sisters, Mable Hucks of New York City, Claudia Hucks and Gladys Uzzle (George), both of Ivor; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Branch Baptist Church, 8140 Proctors Bridge Road, Ivor, officiated by the Rev. Frank Aikens. Interment will be in the Davis family cemetery. The family will be at the home of Claudia Hucks, 34048 General Mahone Blvd., Ivor. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
