Lavina Brandon Obituary


Lavina M. Brandon VIRGINIA BEACH - Lavina M. Brandon, 72, passed away Sept. 24, 2008. Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Brandon had resided in Woodbridge, Va., moving to Virginia Beach in 1991. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Whitehurst Landing Road, Virginia Beach. Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Philip S. Brandon; four daughters, Lavina Resto (Louis) of Bealeton, Va., Kathy Vesey (Pete) of Virginia Beach, Grace Cook (Jim) of Nashville, N.C., and Vickie Barter (Chris) of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Mary Calhoun of Ridley Park, Pa.; and five grandchildren, Danielle Kulawiak (Ed) of Hackettstown, N.J., Vikki Cook of Wilmington, N.C., U.S. Army Private First Class Philip Resto, Tara Resto and Ashley Resto all of Bealeton, Va. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Whitehurst Landing Road, Virginia Beach, where a funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at 3 p.m. Nov. 3, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Susan G. Komen For the Cure, Tidewater Affiliate, 119 S. Witchduck Road, Suite 85, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Friends may sign the guest register book at www.mem.com. Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, is in charge.

My deepest sympathy to the family, especially to Mr. B. LaLa ( I gave her that nick name), will always be in my heart. I just thank the Lord for blessing me and my family with her friendship. She is sincerely loved and missed. Heaven got a little more wonderful, now that she is there.
