Norman Brown Obituary


Norman E. Brown CHESAPEAKE - Norman E. Brown, 76, died Sept. 28, 2008, at his home following a long illness. Born in Framingham, Mass., Dec. 4, 1931, he was the son of the late Elwin Leon Brown and the late Muriel Hudson McAdams. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Norman was a Navy veteran and retired from the City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities after 33 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Patricia S. Brown and beloved dog, Sara, of Chesapeake; son, Jeffrey L. Brown and wife Karen of Chesapeake; daughter, Marguerite L. Wright and husband Melvin of Atlanta; two stepdaughters, Kimberly D. Hasty and Rhonda D. Mullins of Virginia Beach; stepson, Charles R. Beavers II and wife Amy of Rocky Mount, N.C.; one brother, Allen Brown of Reno, Nev.; his former wife, Norma C. Brown of Atlanta; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by a special niece, Sandy Puhse and husband Vick of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., and a special nephew, Raymond Reynolds and wife Vildan of Lawton, Okla.. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Mark Wethington will officiate. The interment will be private in Rosewood Memorial Park. The viewing will begin Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would especially like to thank his caregivers from the Heartland Hospice group for their devotion and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Home Care and Hospice, 5040 Corporate Woods Drive, Suite 150, Virginia Beach, VA, 23462.
