Akim Layeni and I were classmates at Igbobi College, Lagos, Nigeria. I lost touch with Akim way back in 1970 and didn't have any idea that he had died. About 10 minutes ago while on the internet I noticed one of those annoying pop-up ads. It was in the form of a comic super-hero. Amazingly, I immediately thought of Akim who would secretly sketch comic-like super heroes in class during lessons. At that young age I noticed that Akim was talented. I vaguely knew that Akim and I were related but never quite knew how.
I remember Akim with fondness. I liked him. He had a good heart. My he rest in peace.
