John Macalintal Obituary


John Tyler Macalintal VIRGINIA BEACH - John Tyler "JT" Knotts Macalintal, 17, passed away Oct. 3, 2008. JT was born in Dothan, Ala., and moved to Virginia Beach in 2007 from Eastampton, N.J. He was a student at Kellam High School in Virginia Beach and previously at Rancocas Valley Regional High School in Mount Holly, N.J. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mount Holly and also St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. He was an avid fan of football, especially the N.Y. Jets, his other interest included scuba diving and surfing. Known to many as Tyler or to his sisters as "Kuya," (a Filipino term meaning big brother) he was a wonderful son, brother, grandson and friend to many and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his parents, Romeo and Melissa Macalintal; three sisters, Kaitlyn, Rachel and Samantha Macalintal, all of Virginia Beach; grandparents, JoAnne and Keith Palmer of Dothan, and Romeo and Yolanda Macalintal of Moonachie, N.J., aunts and uncles, Amanda Palmer of Dothan, Radley and Grace Macalintal, and Rosanne and Phil Gonzales, all of Moonachie; and several cousin, nieces, nephews, extended family and good friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church Friday at 11 a.m. by Father J. Morton Biber with visitation being held one hour prior to Mass in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com.

I knew it because I sat with him in my lunch blocks all last year at Kellam high school. He was a really cool person that would be a friend to a person that did not have friends. He was kind to everybody encluding new people to the school like me. I will keep you guys in my prayers and I will always miss you my good friend J.T.
