Luther Freeman

Luther H. Freeman NORFOLK - Luther H. Freeman, 89, of the 1000 block of Mapole Ave., passed away peacefully Oct. 6, 2008, at his home. He was a native of Lewiston, N.C. He was a loving father, grandfather and uncle. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 36 years of service. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Earline B. Freeman and four brothers. Luther is survived by his son, Ronald H. Freeman of Lancaster, Calif.; two daughters, Brenda J. Freeman (Benny) of Richmond, Va., Sharon Dorsett-Edmonds and a loyal son-in-law Garland Edmonds of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Tremyl Dorsett, Tamara Dorsett and Ujimasa Freeman; and one great-granddaughter, Carrington. The family will receive relatives and friends at 1026 Mapole Ave., Norfolk. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in First Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Springs will officiate.
