Mary N. Powell IVOR - Mary Nannie Powell, 88, passed away Oct. 8, 2008, at Consulate Healthcare in Windsor. Born May 4, 1920, in Ivor, she was the daughter of the late George C. and Lizzie Felts Powell. She was also predeceased by a brother, George C. Powell Jr. She was a lifetime member of Ivor United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Ivor Woman's Club. She worked at Bracey and Johnson Oil Company (Ivor Oil Company) for 32 years and she worked 11 years at the State Agriculture Lab in Ivor. She was a 1937 graduate of Ivor High School and a 1939 graduate of Norfolk Business School. She is survived by two nieces, Ruth P. Saunders and husband Billy of Carrsville and Virginia P. Britt and husband Russell of Ivor; a nephew, George C. Powell III and wife Donna of Waverly; four great-nieces, Christy F. Lynch of Suffolk, Nancy F. Scott of Rockmart, Ga., JoAnne F. Joyner of Zuni and Cheryl F. Simmers of Waverly; three great-nephews, John W. Saunders of Carrsville, Ricky Powell and Michael Powell, both of Wakefield; five great-great-nieces, Hillarie J. Garner of Ivor, Janice H. Vann of Cedartown, Ga., Ashley Saunders of Franklin, Lillie Powell and Dacey Carwile, both of Wakefield; three great-great-nephews, Matt Saunders of Carrsvile, Nick Powell and Davis Carwile, both of Wakefield; two great-great-great-nephews, Hayden T. Vann of Cedartown, Ga., and Peyton T. Garner of Ivor; and numerous cousins. A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in J.T. Morriss & Son Purviance Chapel, Wakefield, with the Rev. Anne Beale and the Rev. Roy Drake officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the residence of Russell and Virginia Britt, 10118 New Road, Ivor. Burial to follow immediately after the funeral in Ivor Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ivor United Methodist Church, 8511 Main St., Ivor, VA 23866, Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
