James Bacchus Obituary


James E. Bacchus NORFOLK - James Earl Bacchus, 55, of the 5300 block of Kingswell Drive, died Oct. 11, 2008, at Sentara Leigh Hospital. He retired after 28 years of distinguished service from the City of Norfolk Dept. of Parks and Forestry. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend to all. He was predeceased by his mother, Carrie S. Bacchus and a brother, Ashmon Bacchus Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Wanda R. Bacchus; son, Dion Sparrow; father, Ashmon Bacchus Sr.; sister, Sara Bacchus; four grandchildren, Chris Grasty, Diondra Foreman, Asia Foreman and Ja'Kara Huggins; father and mother-in-law, Lorenzo and Isa Sparrow; and a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of James' life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at the chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
