Carlo Didio Obituary


Carlo R. Didio PORTSMOUTH - Carlo Rocco Didio, 88, a lifelong resident of Portsmouth and member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, died in his home Oct. 16, 2008. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and a dear friend to many. He is survived by his sons, Joseph and wife Anne, Carl and wife Sharon, Jerry and wife Dona and Louis; daughters, Teresa Baker and husband Brian, and Joan Blanchard and husband Skip; grandchildren, Matthew Didio, Mark Didio, David Didio, Devin Farley, Heather Greer, Ashley Oliver, Kyle Didio, Anthony Didio, Phillip Didio, Allison Didio, Michael Blanchard and Stephen Blanchard; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Farley, Holly Greer and Bailey Oliver. He is also survived by a brother, Nick Didio, and a sister, Jonie Didio. He was predeceased by his loving wife Shirley, daughter Mary Ann Thompkins and six sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Catholic Church, followed by entombment at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. A Christian wake will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel. At other times, the family will accept visitors at 2016 Airline Blvd. in Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul's Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 518 High St., Portsmouth, VA 23704. As his health declined due to illness, he was comforted in his home of 55 years by his six loving children.
