Marion Blair

Marion W. Blair NORFOLK - Marion Cecelia White Blair was the wife of retired U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. John A. Blair, beloved mother of John Thomas and Jo Ann, and grandmother of John Cole and Scott Edward Blair. Marion was 82 when she went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ Oct. 18, 2008. Marion was the daughter of Thomas and Emma White of West Orange, N.J., who preceded her in death. She was employed by Dunn and Bradstreet of New York prior to her marriage on Sept. 29, 1945, to then Ensign John A. Blair. After marrying, she spent her time creating a loving home for her husband and children and providing care for her parents and her husband's parents. She also devoted more than 40 years to the American Heart Association and many years to the Tidewater Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America as their Sunshine person. She was active in Central Congregational Christian Church for more than 35 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher and a deaconess. She'd been a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church for the past five years. She is survived by her husband, Lt. Cmdr. John A.; son, John T. and his wife Mary Ann Cole Blair; grandsons, John C. and Scott E. Blair; daughter, Jo Ann Blair-Davis and her husband Sheppard H.C. Davis, and their four children. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bruce Carper. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
