Olivia Britton Obituary


Olivia Britton NORFOLK - Olivia Britton, 72, of the 900 block of E. Virginia Beach Blvd., passed away Oct. 16, 2008 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born Feb. 4, 1936 to the late Ned and Sarah Britton. Early in life, she was member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She attended Booker T. Washington High School, Norfolk. She was previously employed as a personal caretaker. Olivia was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was predeceased by a sister, Shirley; a brother, Ned Jr.; a very special son-in-law, Eugene Austin; and a granddaughter, Toshina Britton. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Sheila Austin and Karen Edwards; two sons, Tyrone King and Clarence King; two sisters, Dorothy Norfleet and Carolyn Britton; one brother, Clarence Britton; 13 grandchildren, Antrace, Marcus, Ahmed, Donyea, Tanya, Ashley, Tyrone, Kelly, Javon, Kendell, Toshina, Duwan and Durell; a special great-granddaughter, Jermeka; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 120 W. Berkley Ave. Elder Patti Mills will officiate. Interment will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 915 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., one hour prior to service for procession to the chapel.
