Dr. Dennis Pirog

Dennis J. Pirog VIRGINIA BEACH - Dr. Dennis John Pirog, 69, of the 1200 block of Southfield Place, died Oct. 27, 2008, in his home. He was born May 13, 1939, in Passaic, N.J., and was the son of the late Albert and Mary Pirog. Dennis graduated from Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania in 1963 with a B.S. degree and Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1966. He served an internship at Central State Hospital in Petersburg, Va., from 1966 to 1967. He also served two years in the U.S. Army Dental Corps with the rank of captain on Okinawa. Dr. Pirog opened his dental practice in Virginia Beach in 1970 and enjoyed 36 years with his patients, staff and fellow dentists. Dr. Pirog was a member of the Tidewater Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association and American Dental Association. Dr. Pirog is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pat Pirog and a son, Denny C. Pirog of Manchester, Conn. He will be greatly missed by his friends, family and former patients. A special thanks to Dr. Edward George and his staff of Virginia Oncology Associates. Also thanks to home services given by Sentara Hospice and Arcadia Home Health. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel.
