Juanita Cummings Obituary


Juanita J. Cummings NORFOLK - Juanita Johnston Cummings, 81, formerly of the Bayview section of Norfolk, passed away Oct. 26, 2008, in Jacksonville, Florida. Juanita was the widow of James Edward Cummings and had worked for the Department of the Navy. She was a member of First View Baptist Church in Norfolk. She also volunteered with DePaul Hospital in Norfolk and the Jacksonville USO. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Schellhorn and husband Matthew; two granddaughters, Stephanie Schellhorn, Heather E. Benoit and husband Jonathan; and two great-grandchildren, Holley and Blake Benoit, all of Jacksonville; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Jimmy Cummings Jr., two sisters and three brothers. A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with the Rev. Chuck Snead officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
