Mr. Deutsch was my friend. My mother, Herma Darrow lived on the same unit of Beth Sholom for the last 6 months. I visited daily and tried to spend as much time with Mr. Deutsch as my mother would allow. We played checkers. The weekend of Oct 3-5, my mother was very sick and nearing death. The weather was beautiful and several times that weekend, Mr. Deutsch and I walked/rolled to the new garden to catch some rays. We shared a pair of sunglasses. He put a smile on my face when only tears would flow. That was our last visit, my mother died October 6th and I have not been emotionally ready to go back. I just want his family to know that he was a wonderful man and friend. I am honored to have known him and will miss him greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
