Mildred Womack Obituary


Mildred W. Womack NORFOLK - Mildred Williams Womack, 85, of the 300 block of Shorewood Drive, passed away Oct. 30, 2008, in Norfolk. A native of Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Launa and Hunter S. Williams Sr. and the widow of Emmett B. Womack Jr. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and most recently a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and its choir. She was a 1942 graduate of Maury High School. She was a former employee of Smith & Welton department store and was a former Volunteer of the Year for the YWCA of Norfolk. She is survived by four children, Lynda Jenkins and husband Donald of Richmond, Va., Candice Womack Dettloff of Norfolk, James Carter Womack of Virginia Beach and Melissa D. Womack of Farmville, Va.; five grandchildren, Tracey L. Jenkins of Williamsburg, Khris J. Brubaker and husband Mal of Lancaster, Pa., Luke A. Constantinides and wife Stephanie of Charlotte, N.C., Matthew E. Constantinides of Norfolk and Christopher Womack of Bath, N.C.; and three great-granddaughters. She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth W. Phelan and husband Matthew of Atlanta; a brother-in-law, Edmund W. Womack and wife Anne of Farmville; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by a brother, Hunter S. Williams Jr. and his wife Delores and their daughter, Deborah W. Vincent. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 224 S. Military Highway, Norfolk, with the Rev. John M. Eidam officiating. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association, ASPCA or a charity of choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
