Edith Lipson Obituary


Edith K. Lipson VIRGINIA BEACH - Edith Katz Lipson passed peacefully away Nov. 1, 2008, at the Beth Sholom Home in Virginia Beach. A native of Norfolk, Edith was born on Mother's Day, May 11, 1924, and had resided in Portsmouth for many years. She was a longtime member of Gomley Chesed Synagogue. Edith was adored and admired by all who knew her. She was known for her compassion, kindness and cheerful nature. She worked at Chesapeake Pharmacy for more than 24 years and enjoyed listening and helping people. Her family always came first. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Samuel; her sisters, Ida Levinson and Rose Friedman; and her brother, Hyman Katz. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sharon Browne and her husband Jerry; and a much adored granddaughter, Holly Rebecca Browne. She will also be missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rabbi Arthur Ruberg officiating. Following the services, the family will be sitting shiva through noon Friday at 5228 DeFord Road, Virginia Beach. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Beth Sholom for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Beth Sholom Home or to Congregation Beth El. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
