Elizabeth Bolling Obituary


Elizabeth S. Bolling PORTSMOUTH - Elizabeth "Bette" Scott Bolling, 83, passed away Nov. 4, 2008, in her residence. She was a native of Media, Pa., and was a daughter of the late Allen R. and JoAnna Scott. She was a U.S. Navy Nurse during World War II where she received the Meritorious Civilian Award from the U.S. Navy in 1953. She then went to work at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth General Hospital and retired from Maryview Hospital as the operating room supervisor. She exemplified tremendous courage and strength which will live in our hearts forever. She was predeceased by her son, Jeff Bolling and sister, Joan Buley. Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Morris and husband Dr. Glen Morris of Portsmouth and Kathy B. Eberwine of Chesapeake; a son, John A. Bolling and wife Leslie of Fairfax, Va.; a sister, Mary Scott of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Kittrell Eberwine IV, Jessica, Ashley, Stephanie and Becky Bolling; and one great- grandchild. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of choice. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Bon Secours Maryview Nursing Care Center and Rehab, Bridge Road, next door neighbors of 40 years, Don and Betsy Edwards, her special friend, Keith, and last but not least, her doctor who never gave up on her for many years, Dr. Thomas Harrington.
