James Hinkle Obituary


James W. Hinkle NORFOLK - Past president of the Norfolk Sports Club, James W. Hinkle, 82, of the 1800 block of Arrowwood St., passed away Nov. 4, 2008. A native of Huntington, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ashley and Ardella Hinkle. Having served in World War II and meeting and marrying his wife Catherine in Australia, he retired from the United States Navy after 31 years. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and was past president of the Williamsburg Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Catherine J. Hinkle; his son, Rear Adm. James B. Hinkle, U.S. Navy retired and wife Meredith of Fairfax, Va.; his daughter, Janice Bunting and husband Bryan of Fort Myers, Fla.; his granddaughter, Jennifer Hinkle and grandson, James C. Hinkle. A memorial service will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church at noon Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

I worked for Jim at Career Counselor School just before his retirement in the late 70's. Jim was an excellent boss, friend and counselor.

jim was a great guy very positive and could make you laugh.i had the pleasure of spending time with him at
the ov koc..spent lots of saturdays
listening to his stories an having his glass of wine!he will be missed by all
thanks for so many days of enjoyment.saturdays at knights of colombus will never be the same
