Shirl Shafer Obituary


Shirl T. Shafer Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Shirl Thomas "Tommy" Shafer Jr., 40, of the 300 block of Silver Maple Drive, passed away suddenly Nov. 1, 2008. Born in Germany, Tommy is survived by his mother, Marion Shafer of Virginia Beach; a brother, Guido Shafer of Chesapeake; and a nephew, Michael Shafer of Virginia Beach; and extended family in Indiana and Germany. He was predeceased by his father, Shirl T. Shafer Sr. In his younger years, he traveled and moved extensively as a military Army dependent here in the United States and overseas. Tommy loved life and enjoyed people. He had a big heart and had compassion and kindness towards everyone. He truly exemplified what it means to be a Christian. The family expresses a special thank you to the Davita Dialysis Center in Virginia Beach. A memorial service is pending and will be conducted in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
