Lois Glaves Obituary


Lois Marie Glaves PENSACOLA, Fla. - Lois Marie Glaves, 79, passed away Nov. 5, 2008. Mrs. Glaves was born in Omaha, Neb., April 2, 1929, then moved to Los Angeles. Lois attended and graduated from Dorsey High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Bob "Robert" Glaves. Bob entered the U.S. Navy when Lois joined him in a lifelong career. She spent the next 32 years as an officer's wife and full-time mother to their three children. They lived in various locations across the country and Lois traveled the globe with other Navy wives and friends to meet their spouses during their deployments. They retired to Pensacola 23 years ago. She was active in many volunteer organizations, active in sports, and loved to paint, read, laugh and love. She had a zest for life and will be missed greatly by all. She is survived by her husband, retired Capt. Robert H. Glaves; three children, Jody Kusick, Bruce Glaves and Dana Newman; and one granddaughter, Megan Glaves. A memorial service will be held in Perdido Bay United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Darren McClellan will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001; Humane Society, 5 North Q Street, Pensacola, FL 32505; American Heart Association, 4400 Bayou Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32504. Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32504 is in charge of arrangements.
