Guadalupe Mendez Obituary


Guadalupe Mendez Jr. CHESAPEAKE - Retired U.S. Navy Chief Machinery Repairman Guadalupe "Tony" Mendez Jr., 70, passed away Nov. 8, 2008. Upon his Naval retirement, he worked for the NNSY as a nuclear mechanical systems inspector. He also worked at the General Foam Plastics Corporation. Tony was born in New Braunfels, Texas, to the late Guadalupe Mendez Sr. and Augustina Soto Mendez. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lucy and his daughters, Victoria Mendez, Cynthia Litman and her husband David, Juanita Davis and her husband Billy; granddaughters, Elena Litman, Katie Davis and Beth Wilson; his sisters, Pauline, Gladys and Lucia; and brother, Ralph. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jesse, Raymond and Alex. He will be missed and his memory cherished by all his many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Thérèse Catholic Church, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends at the reception following the service in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Aunt Lucy and girls, your Dad was a great man, he was what my kids called him a cool dude. We will miss him. It was a year ago on Sat. that he was here in MI. I will cherish his memory forever. We will see you at the service
