James Karnes Obituary
James Martin Karnes SUFFOLK - James Martin Karnes, 68, beloved husband, father and friend, went home Nov. 9, 2008. He was a native of West Virginia, a retired Methodist minister, retired Army veteran, student and teacher of the martial arts for more than 52 years. Mr. Karnes is survived by his devoted wife, Saundra Beth Karnes; three daughters, Tammy Carrier, Teresa Bartos and Tonya Garrett; two sons, James Phillip Karnes and Benny Lee Karnes; sister, Elaine Culpepper; five grandchildren, Mark, Jordan, Shannon, Ligia and Sidney; and a great-grandson, Devon. The burial service will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Friday at 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Jolliff United Methodist Church. The family would like all memorial gifts to be given to Jolliff United Methodist to go towards the building fund. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, is handling the arrangements.
