Dianne Marshall Obituary


Dianne B. Marshall MANASSAS - Dianne Bigger Marshall, 65, formerly of Danville and Chesapeake, passed away peacefully Nov. 9, 2008, at the Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge after a battle with cancer. Born June 8, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Troy Arrington Bigger and Maude Wrenn Bigger. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Marshall, whom she wed July 16, 1966, in Danville, Va. Dianne, who held an undergraduate degree from Longwood College and a master's degree from George Mason University, was a dedicated, lifelong teacher to both children and fellow educators. She was preceded in death by her father, Troy A. Bigger and one son, Woodell "Woody" Marshall. Besides her beloved husband of 42 years, she is survived by one daughter, Lillie Kay Hirsch and her husband Michael L. of Palmetto, Fla.; two sons, Troy Marshall and his wife Rebekah of Warrenton and Bradley Marshall, Esq. of Nokesville; her mother, Maude W. Bigger; one sister, Nancy Jean Motley, both of Danville; one brother, James Bigger and his wife Gail of North Carolina; and the five grandchildren whom she adored, Michael Arrington, Joshua Bradley, Troy Arrington, Kayleigh Dianne and Noah James. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, director Michael Post. The family will also receive friends Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Mausoleum in Danville Memorial Gardens, 510 Church Ave., Danville, where graveside and interment services will begin at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may take the form of a donation to Susan G.
