Lena Perkins Obituary


Lena M. Perkins NORFOLK - Lena M. Perkins, 88, died Nov. 10, 2008, in the Salemtowne Retirement Community in Winston-Salem. She was formerly of the 8000 block of Lynnbrook Drive in Norfolk and lived in Norfolk from 1946 until she moved to an assisted living facility in North Carolina to be close to her daughter. She was born in Lynn, Mass., and was predeceased by her husband Edward, who retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad. They were former members of the Tarrallton Seniors Club and bowled with the Railroad Bowling League. Survivors include a daughter, Linda P. Keel and her husband Clarence of Clemmons, N.C.; a son, Edward P. Perkins of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Christopher and Brian Keel and Cheri Seery; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Andrew Donovan of Saugus, Mass. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Woodlawn Funeral Chapel, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd., with the Rev. Ken Carlton officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
