Vera Boone Obituary


Vera B. Boone VIRGINIA BEACH - Vera Beatrice Boone, 90, of the 5600 block of Wesleyan Drive, passed away Nov. 13, 2008, in Bon Secours Virginia Beach General Hospital. A native of London, England, she was the daughter of the late William and Ada Alder. She served with the British military during World War II to aid the U.S. Armed Forces in Germany. In 1951, she was naturalized as an American citizen and the U.S. Civil Service recognized her time served with the British Forces. She retired from the U.S. civil service as one of only a few women comptrollers at the time. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles H. "Chuck" Boone; her daughter, Janet Boone Rubin and husband Nathan of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Michael Rubin, Randy Rubin and Rhonda Clark; two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Andrew; a sister, Maisie Bard; and two brothers, William Alder and Ronald Alder, all of England. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, 1485 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach with Rabbi Israel Zoberman officiating. The burial will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
