Frances Hoggard Obituary


Francis C. Hoggard WINDSOR - Frances Carter Hoggard, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Nov. 13, 2008 in Three Rivers Nursing Home. Mrs. Hoggard was born in Northampton County May 5, 1924, to the late Walter W. Carter and Chloe McDaniel Carter. She taught school with the Bertie County school system and later served as the Bertie County librarian. She was a member of the Windsor United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the choir. Survivors include her husband, James F. "Zeke" Hoggard Jr. of Windsor; daughter, Mary Lou Hoggard Brooks and husband Will of Southern Shores; sons, James F. Hoggard III and wife Rita of Windsor, Robert Hoggard and wife Susan of Merry Hill; sisters, Mary Ellen Arney of Franklin, Va., Louise Bland of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Ric, Jay, Tom and Walt Hoggard, Max Walker and Will and Josh Brooks; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Kaitlin Hoggard. A funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Windsor United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Woolsey officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Windsor United Methodist Fellowship Hall today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Windsor United Methodist Church, 407 South Queen St., Windsor, NC 27983. Walker Funeral Home is serving the family. Condolences may be directed to www.walkerfh.net.
