Bonnie Parks Obituary

Bonnie Jones Parks BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Bonnie Jones Parks, 84, went to be with the Lord Nov. 15, 2008. Bonnie left peacefully and was ready and anxious to be with Jesus. She was surrounded by family and friends during her departure. Besides serving her Lord, Jesus Christ, Bonnie's key mission in life was to love, care for and protect her beloved family, whom she always placed so selflessly before herself. She was the ultimate caretaker and confidante and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Bonnie was born in Red Level, Ala., and lived in Chesapeake most of her life while raising her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray William Parks and son, Billy Parks. Bonnie is survived by her son, Ray Mathias Jr. and his wife Cookie Kay of El Cajon, Calif.; two daughters, Cindy Taylor-Hudson and her husband Mel of Smithfield, Va.; Bonnie Raye Roberts and her husband Jim of Birmingham; four grandchildren, Michael Mathias, Melissa Mathias, Carla Roope and Mandi Maile; and seven great-grandchildren, Macknzie Mathias, Autumn Barrett, Owen Fortner, Mason King, William Maile, Kayali Mathias and Dallas King. Bonnie was a devoted Christian and attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Chesapeake and North Shelby Baptist Church in Birmingham. Bonnie will be remembered for her loving, giving heart and great sense of humor. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Immanuel Baptist Church, 1012 Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, with Pastor Dave Libengood officiating. She will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. next to her husband in Suffolk at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, will be caring for arrangements.
