Donald Kokes Obituary


Donald D. Kokes Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Donald D. Kokes Sr., 78, passed away Nov. 14, 2008 at Sentara Virginia Beach General. He was born March 23, 1930, in Ord, Neb., to the late Ann and William Kokes. Don grew up in Washington, D.C., and graduated from St. Johns Military Academy where he was an all-star athlete. Following his military service, Don began his lifelong career as an insurance sales professional. A longtime resident of Virginia Beach, Don was loved by all who knew him. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His good nature and positive attitude allowed him to persevere though faced with failing health. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 57 years, Patricia R. Kokes of Virginia Beach; daughter, Kathy Williams and husband Clif Williams of Aurora N.C.; three sons, Michael, Bobby and Kevin Kokes, all of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy K. Dobson and husband Dan of Fredericksburg, Va. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Kokes Moore and his son, Donald D. Kokes Jr. A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Star of the Sea Catholic Church. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road, is handling arrangements. www.hdoliver.com.
