Bertram Chase Obituary


Bertram Parks Chase PENSACOLA, Fla. - Lt. Cmdr. Bertram Parks Chase, 80, passed away Nov. 12, 2008, after a lengthy illness. Bertram was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Fall River, Mass. He retired from the Navy after 24 years of service to his country. He lived in Virginia Beach, attended Old Dominion University and graduated, worked for VEPCO, City of Richmond, then retired and moved to Florida. Survivors include his dear wife of 23 years, Shirley Frances Chase; sons, Bertram III, Richard and Robert Chase; stepson, Arthur Vollhardt (Patricia); grandchildren, Jason Wiedner, Bertram IV, Christopher, Heather, Samuel and Nickie; stepgrandchildren, Arthur Vollhardt III and Constance McDonald; and many great-grandchildren. He was brother to Nancy Reardon and David Chase. He was predeceased by his grandson, Heath. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in the Nativity of Lord Catholic Church with Monsignor Raymond Mullins as celebrant. Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Lt. Cmdr. Chase is to be cremated and his cremains to be interred at a later date in Virginia Beach.

Shirley, we saw the paper this morning and saw that the mass is Friday morning. I have a procedure scheduled in Mobile then that I can't cancel and Sue must drive for me. We are so sorry we won't be there.
