Eugene Colie Obituary


Gene Colie LA GRANGE - Eugene Thomas "Gene" Colie, 74, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008. Gene was born June 24, 1934 in Lenoir County to the late Julian Day Colie Sr. and Hannah Wilson Colie. Gene was retired from E.I. Dupont and was a member of Institute United Methodist Church. A service of remembrance will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Dr. Mallie Hinnant officiating. A private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery. Gene is survived by his wife of 52 years, Peggy Bryan Colie; son, Master Chief Tim Colie and wife Diane of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Kim Hallow and husband John of Greenville, Gina Colie of La Grange; two sisters-in-law, Anna Colie of La Grange and Dolores Colie of Wheaton, Md.; four grandchildren, Dustin Colie, Nickolas Day Colie, John Hallow III and Maggie Hannah Hallow. The family will receive friends Sunday following the service of remembrance. Memorials may be made to Institute United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Wiley Dawson, 4855 Bryan Hardy Road, La Grange, NC 28551. Arrangements are with Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.

Colie Family, Gene saved my life about 20 years ago ! We became friends and stayed in touch with simple phone calls to each other for many year's. Bill knows what all he did for me. Gene,I love you an God does have his arms open for you to enter heaven ! Thanks for the talks and most of all our fishing trips in the surf !
