Frank Bacskay Obituary


Frank W. Bacskay Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Frank W. Bacskay Sr., 83, passed away at home Nov. 24, 2008. He was born in Trenton, N.J., on Jan. 10, 1925. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School in Trenton and attended the Norfolk division of The College of William and Mary. He was active in his church and a founding member of Faith Wesleyan Church. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served aboard the USS Boxer. After the war, he worked at various jobs until securing employment at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Later in his career, he worked at COMNAVAIRLANT, planning the overhaul of aircraft carriers. After retiring from government service, he was employed in the private sector at American Systems Engineering, a division of SAIC. He is survived by four children, Frank W. Bacskay Jr. and his wife Nathalie of Williamsburg, Frederick N. Bacskay of Chesapeake, Karen B. May of Sterling, Va., Stephen E. Bacskay of Bryn Mawr, Pa.; one grandchild, Stefan M. Bacskay of Lorton, Va.; a sister, Anna B. Pecaric of Trenton, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Frances C. Bacskay and his brother, Joseph N. Bacskay. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 East Virginia Beach Blvd., with Pastor Lee Robison officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. before the service in the funeral home.
