Robert Broome Obituary

Robert Broome GRANDY - Robert Broome, 70, died at home after a valiant battle with illness Nov. 25, 2008. Born in Charlotte, N.C., on Dec. 1, 1937, to the late Marvin and Mable Broome, Robert served his country honorably as a United States Army paratrooper in the 1950s. He was employed with the City of Norfolk for 21 years and held many positions to include chief plumbing inspector. He retired with the city in 2003. Always active and willing to help others, Robert held the office of president of the Virginia Plumbing Mechanical Inspection Association (VPMIA) and was also a past president of the Virginia Cross-Connection Association. After retiring to North Carolina with his wife, Robert joined The American Legion Post 288 in Coinjock and enjoyed spending time with his fellow legionnaires. Robert will be remembered fondly and missed by all he touched. Left to cherish the memory of Robert Broome are his wife Linda of the Grandy residence; one son, Joseph Rosser Case Broome; one daughter, Diana Lynne Case; two grandchildren; and a host of relatives and dear friends. The family will hold a private memorial service at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial tributes in Robert's honor be forwarded to The American Diabetes Association and/or the American Heart Association. Condolences to the family may be sent via the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
