Catherine Harris Obituary


Catherine Harris VIRGINIA BEACH - Catherine "Ms. Kitty" Harris, died peacefully Sunday morning, Nov. 30, 2008, in the presence of her loved ones. She was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church for 50 years. Kitty was a member of Zulekia Court No. 35 and served as High Priestess in 1991. Her family is very proud of her accomplishments and her zest for life. Left to cherish the memory of Kitty are her best friend and husband of 51 years, Clarence "Chubby" Harris and their dog, Princess. Missing her much will be her three children, Beverly Anne Catron and husband Curtis Catron, Deborah Sue Turner, and son, Earl Palmer Harris and wife Marianne Harris. Never forgetting her smile, her fun, her laughter and lessons learned are her grandchildren, Amy Gorman Gibson, Jason Eugene Gorman, Lisa Christine Johnson and husband Mike, Kelly Schumann Stace and husband Aaron, Jeffrey Scott Harris and wife Shannon, Rachel Radford Greene, Shannon Jackson Greene; and her great-grandchild, Gabriel Wayne Gibson. Our "Penguin" and loving wife, mother, grandmother and Gee-Gee will be missed tremendously. Kitty is also survived by her brother, Charles G. Harrison and wife Corrine Harrison; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Harrison, Delores Rough and husband Conner, Clara Snider and Jeannette Haynie; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, by the Rev. Charles G. Harrison. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. where there will be a Ladies of the Oriental Shrine service, Zulekia Court No. 35 at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA 23223.
