Rose Watson Obituary


Rose Driver Watson VIRGINIA BEACH - From the arms of her family and friends to the arms of Jesus, Rose Driver Watson quietly passed away at home Nov. 27, 2008, after a long illness. A native of Waverly, Va., she was the daughter of the late Johnnie and Ora Cooper. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ottaway Watson and her son, Keith Driver. Rose was a faithful member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. She retired as a teacher from the Norfolk and Portsmouth school systems after 36 years of service where she received numerous honors and awards including "teacher of the year." Rose is survived by one daughter, Brenda Stringfield (Jeff) of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Joshua, Jasmine and Lasidra; one sister, Dorothy Payne of Brownsmill, N.J.; one sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Cooper of Richmond; two aunts, one uncle, two aunts-in-law, six nieces, three nephews and a host of family and friends. Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 2714 Frederick Blvd., Portsmouth. Bishop Curtis E. Edmonds Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Ave. Chapel, is in charge. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
