Joan Norris Obituary
Joan G. Norris KITTY HAWK - Joan Marie Geffert Norris, 70, died Nov. 30, 2008, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Norris, a native of Richmond, Va., was the daughter of the late Joseph Geffert and Gertrude Throckmorton Geffert and the widow of Bob J. Norris. She was a resident of Kitty Hawk for more than 22 years and was a former owner of the Colonial Inn Motel in Nags Head, N.C. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Norris is survived by two daughters, Laurie Fox of Norfolk and Julie Norris and husband TJ Allen of Garner, N.C.; a son, Charles Smith and wife Angela of Springfield, Va.; two sisters, Elaine Fenne of Richmond and Ann Armstrong of Point Harbor, N.C.; a brother, William J. Geffert of Richmond; and two grandchildren, Carson and Cara Smith. A funeral will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church St., Elizabeth City. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association of North Carolina, P.O. Box 27985, Raleigh, NC 27611. Chuck, Lorie, Julie and family: It was a true honor knowing such a strong, wonderful woman, that was an important person in my life, and one of the most important people in my mothers life. I will always remember the woman that brought such joy and love to everyone she touched. She will be truly missed. I miss the times our families spent together.

Lorie, Julie, Chuck and other family members - please know you have my deepest sympathy. Joan was a beautiful person and a dedicated friend. I have such wonderful memories of us working together at UMFS and our continued friendship over the past years. She will be missed!
