Wynelle Gardner Obituary

Wynelle B. Gardner VIRGINIA BEACH - Wynelle Bennett Gardner passed away peacefully Nov. 29, 2008, in her Virginia Beach home of two years, Brighton Gardens. She had recently celebrated her 90th birthday. Wyn was born Sept. 12, 1918, to "Cab" and Annie Bennett in Granite, Okla. She grew up on a small farm in the rambunctious company of numerous kinfolk. After the family moved to Dallas, Wyn worked as a drugstore photographer and then joined Delta Airlines. When she met her husband, John, she was chief ticket agent at Love Field, Dallas. They raised a family of three children and one dachshund in Fanwood, N.J. Wyn became an author and speaker with Women's Aglow during the Charismatic Movement of the church during the 60s and 70s. Her books are "The Mouse That Glowed" and "Our Growing Family." She and John retired to Virginia Beach where they spearheaded missionary support at their church, Kempsville Presbyterian. Wyn will be sorely missed by her younger brother, Stanley Bennett of Dallas; her sons, Bill Gardner of Guelph, Ontario, and John Gardner of San Diego; and her daughter, Tammy Gardner Beiderman of Virginia Beach. She has five granddaughters, one grandson and one great-granddaughter. She is now reunited with her husband, retired Air Force Col. John S. Gardner, in the presence of the Lord. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Jan. 12, 2009, in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be directed to KPC Missions, www.kpc.org.
